Vision Boards: Looking Back to Look Forward

By: Jenn Coolidge

A Vision board is a collection of images, words and sayings that represent your dreams, goals, plans and hopes.

My board may look simple, but it tells my story. For me sometimes it helps to look back, so I can confidently move forward.

Obviously, it all started with the cross! The girl’s hands are up because the Lord has always met me. When I worship, I lift my hands up. God has brought a lot of healing to my life, so I know I can trust Him to meet me now.

The handprints are reminders that God has used me to touch many peoples’ lives, even though I’ve been broken. I know He’ll do it again.

Butterfly was my old nickname in my addiction because I couldn’t be still. Now, I see it as a picture of God reminding me who I truly am. I am transformed into something beautiful, and it reminds me that, by His grace, I have a new name in Christ – Beloved!

The little stick people represent my family reunited – me, my mom, my sister, my children, and my grandchildren. I was separated from my family for ten years, and now we’ve been reunited for just as long! God gives us beauty for ashes (Is. 61:3).

Look up! Ever since my dad was dying and the Lord called me out of my old life back to Him, I always see an X in the sky. It encouraged me that I wasn’t alone. I was in a bad relationship and needed to trust God to help me walk away. The X was a sign that I was going in the right direction!

Thank you, Lord Jesus.

I encourage you to make your own vison board and put it up where you can be reminded of what is true and good.
